ZRS8 Spoilers Below (I finished the season!!) ~~

GUESS WHO JUST FINISHED SEASON 8???

I really liked the season finale, although i wish we could’ve had those 10 extra episodes to build the tension. The last part of the season was really strong though. I was SO WORRIED they were gonna kill someone off during the eleventh hour, considering EVERYONE was infected with the fungus (although i wanted a little more heart-wrenchingness during the scene where sam got jumped by rory. i would’ve loved for sam to be like “hey i’m probably going to die, you’re my best friend and i love you” instead of like “get out of here tell paula and maxine im sorry” like SAM. DUDE. COME ON.), janine was straight-up unconscious and not breathing at one point, and the red fungus was GROWING ON AMELIA (and irl i passed a bunch of mushrooms on my trail i was like...y’all stay back)

Villain-wise: Shona WANTS what Moonchild has

There are so many interesting parallels between them (close connection with a dead parent, directly led to their fathers’ deaths, in everyone’s heads, secretly spreading red fungus/ceratin plus, etc.), I’m really surprised Moonchild didn’t make an appearance (or at least popped up at the end to be like “rude and derivative” when Shona yeeted herself off the cliff. Or used her Comansys accelerant over and over again).

The scene where Shona spoke through Chief McCallan was fucking CREEPY AS SHIT esp when Shona/McCallan tackled Five and grabbed their gun. I was like oh shit it’s about to be Tom’s Death 2: The Sequel to Tom’s Death, with a healthy dose of flashback to five getting bitten by a zombie once the chief started turning v-type. Like one of my top unsettling moments in ZR.

I’ve hated the pandemic since the start obviously but i hate it even more now that there’s an indefinite delay on season 9′s production
